The conversation about vaping vs. smoking is a controversial one, but most vapers will tell you it shouldn’t be. Why is that? For one, most vapers are former smokers, and no one knows both sides of the story quite like someone who’s made the switch.
Typically, the first thing vapers will tell you is that they prefer vaping over smoking because of the health risks smoking imposes. However, we don’t even have to get into the health implications to show why e-cigs are better than cigarettes. That’s how great vaping is.
What is Vaping?
In the simplest terms, vaping is inhaling water vapor from a personal electronic vapor device, also known as an electronic cigarette or e-cig. There are a variety of different vaporizers available on the market today. Everything from the original e-cig that looks like a traditional cigarette to completely customized vape mods with rebuildable tanks. Finding the perfect device has never been easier and fortunately, pairing it with the right e-juice is just as easy.
E-liquid is the fluid used in e-cigs (and vaporizers) that creates the actual vapor. The juice typically contains propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, water, flavorings, and sometimes nicotine. Like vaping devices, there are a variety of e-juices available. In addition to flavors for purchase, many people make concoctions of their own, creating an infinite number of flavor combinations.
Why are e-cigs better than cigarettes?
The are numerous benefits to using e-cigs, below are four of the most predominant:
1. Vaping is Cost-Effective
The cost alone makes vaping better than smoking. After the initial purchase of your device, the only thing you need to purchase is e-juice and atomizers or coils (depending on your vaporizer of choice).
2. Vaping Smells (and Tastes) Better
If the cost wasn’t enough to prove that vaping is better than smoking, how about the smell? Cigarettes are known for producing an unfavorable odor, affecting everything from your breath to your clothes.
When it comes to vaping, aside from the brief aroma of the exhaled vapor, there is no lingering smell. Vaping also tastes better. Depending on your preferences, you can choose flavors ranging from raspberry to rum raisin.
3. Vaping is Completely Customizable
While most cigarettes come in one flavor, you can completely customize your vaping experience from the type of device you use, down to the e-juice you put in it. Vaping offers variety; you don’t have to have just one juice, you can spice things up with a different flavor any time you like.
You can even make your own e-liquid, although this is typically reserved for the more advanced vaper. While most people purchase premade e-juice, there are an infinite amount of combinations of flavors that you are free to mix and match into the juice of your liking.
4. Vaping Doesn’t Hurt the Environment
Another difference between vaping and smoking? Vaping is much better for the environment.
Secondhand smoke has pollutants in it, and while the air pollution from a cigarette is nothing compared to that of a car, it’s still polluting the air we breathe. On the flipside, vaping doesn’t pollute the air. Nothing is burned in an e-cigarette, therefore, there are no pollutants released when you exhale.
Additionally, there is no vape packaging to throw out aside from the bottles of e-juice you consume (which you can recycle).
