While it’s not the worst thing to happen while you’re vaping, leaks are pretty frustrating and disgusting. One minute you’re loving your custom e-liquid flavor and the next it’s all over your hands, in your mouth, or even dripping from your vaporizer.
Keep in mind, the reason your tank is leaking could actually be a problem called flooding, which is typically the user’s fault and, thankfully, not a problem with your vaporizer. With practice, flooding can easily be avoided.
Why, oh, why?
There are a few common reasons as to why your vaporizer might be leaking or flooding.
- Inhaled too hard, too quickly. Always keep in mind that e-cigs are different from traditional cigarettes. If you’re a little too vigorous with a long, hard drag on your vaporizer, you may flood your tank causing the liquid to leak into your mouth or onto your battery.
- Too much e-liquid. Since tanks are only designed to hold a specific amount of e-liquid, filling your tank too much can also cause your vaporizer to leak or flood when you inhale.
- Old equipment. If your atomizer is old, the coils may not be heating and vaporizing like they should. This can leave some of the e-liquid in a liquid state when you inhale.
- Melted or cracked tank. If you have a plastic tank, some e-liquids with cinnamon or menthol can actually melt your tank. Yikes. Glass tanks are better for strong e-liquids, but be careful here too. If you you’re rough with your vaporizer, the glass tank can crack. Be sure to store it correctly between vaping sessions.
My Vaporizer Leaked, Now What?
If the problem is a cracked tank or if your atomizer has seen better days, be sure to replace these parts before vaping again…or you could end up with a mouthful of liquid. BLEH.
