6 Reasons Why Vapor Should Be Used to Quit Smoking

Use Vapor to Stop Smoking Cigarettes - VaporFi

If you’re ready to quit smoking and you haven’t found a method that works for you, then vaping may well be an alternative for you to consider. In case you’re wondering exactly what ‘vaping’ is, here’s a definition:

1. To inhale and exhale the vapor produced by an electronic cigarette or similar device.

An e cigarette is an electronic inhaler that gives out vapors from an aerosol mist. This gives the general effect of smoking a cigarette. Other common names include e-cigarette (or e-cig) and electronic cigarette. For the purposes of this discussion, I’ll be talking about refillable, not disposable units. Most of these are roughly comparable in size to a pen light or a magic maker. They are composed of a rechargeable battery, an atomizer (or heating coil), and a refillable reservoir for e liquid.

Okay so now that you know basically what vaping is, the question remains: why quit smoking with vapor? Over the years, a number of smoking cessation techniques have hit the market. Some examples include:

  • Hypnosis
  • Nicotine Patches
  • Nicotine Gum
  • Cold Turkey
  • Chantix
  • Zyban

With so many choices, surely you’re wondering just why Vapor is the method for you. Here are 6 reasons why vaping to quit smoking might be the way to go.

Keeping Up the Act: Muscle Memory

Unlike any of the methods mentioned, Vaping helps simulate the psychological attachment you’ve developed with the act of smoking a cigarette. The act of smoking and the rituals that make it up, are a big part of what the smoker is actually addicted to. When you’re Vaping, you go through those familiar motions attached to smoking. In doing so, you maintain that muscle memory you’ve created from smoking over the years, but at the same time you eliminate actually taking in tobacco smoke.

Maintaining the ‘Throat Hit’

Researching this topic I’ve found a lot of reference to the ‘Throat Hit’ that cigarette smokers enjoy. The meaning of the phrase ‘Throat Hit’ was eluding me at first because I quit smoking cigarettes years ago, but I do still enjoy cigars occasionally and, (even though you don’t inhale cigar smoke), I still sometimes have a slight temptation to inhale. I think it’s sort of a leftover ‘euphoric recall’ of the sensation of inhaling smoke. I gave it some thought and I started remembering that tingly sort of feeling you get in the back of your throat…suddenly it clicked. The universal sentiment seems to be that vaping is the one and only non-smoking alternative that allows you to experience this sensation and yet still eliminate the intake of smoke.

With the exception of Cold Turkey, cost of vaping is far less expensive than any of the smoking cessation methods I’ve listed. Of course, there are other methods and this assertion is based on the assumption that you are planning to manipulate the nicotine content of your vape juice to slowly wean yourself off. On the other hand, if you continue to Vape with 0% nicotine, I suppose you could argue that the continued costs might eventually outweigh the more limited expenditures using methods that have a finite use period.

Convenient, Versatile and Non-Prescription

Unlike a number of the available smoking cessation methods, vaping is something that you don’t need a prescription in order to try. Of course, the implications of this advantage goes hand-in-hand with the cost comparison, but vaping as an alternative to smoking has a convenience and versatility factor that cannot be denied. There’s certainly nothing wrong with consulting a doctor in order to find ways to quit smoking, but again, if you do want to give vaping a try as an alternative, you won’t be required to schedule a doctor’s visit to do it.

Flexible e-liquid Nicotine Content

We talked about nicotine content briefly under the topic of affordability, but there’s a lot more to say about the flexibility of nicotine content in vaping. As I’ve already mentioned, the majority of users trying to quit would be slowly reducing the nicotine content, but despite the adverse effects of nicotine, some people would prefer, (for any number of reasons), to continue at present levels. Vaping provides that alternative and allows you to continue to fulfill your nicotine requirements without the added danger of inhaling the smoke.

Clearly the ability to choose what amount of nicotine you want in your e-liquid is a great benefit. Pretty much every manufacturer in this industry sells e-juice in a variety of nicotine levels (including 0mg). The content is measured by milligram (mg). If your smoking habit is around a pack a day, your starting point would be around 18mg – 24mg.

Tip: Just about every manufacturer in this industry offers ‘sample’ sizes. The price per bottle can vary anywhere from about $2-$5, but the great thing is that they allow you to try out a few different things in order to determine what works for best for you.

Keep in mind that no matter what your nicotine levels are, Vaping may leave you feeling more thirsty than usual. It’s a normal side-effect that can be readily fixed by simply drinking more water (which, by the way, is ALWAYS good advice!).

E-Juice Flavor Variety

For a long time, smoking cessation aids came in limited flavors that were aimed at mimicking the taste of tobacco cigarettes. Unfortunately, many of those nicotine gums and early cig-a-like devices only succeeded at producing a pale flavor that missed the mark.

Today’s refillable vaporizers come in a huge range of flavors to make switching to vapor very easy. Not only can you enjoy some really great traditional tobacco flavors, you can also try refreshing beverage flavors, sweet candies and desserts!

The Vaping Community

One thing that is often under-appreciated about vaping is the sense of community when you pick up your first vaporizer. You will find that you are suddenly surrounded by people who are making the very same journey you are.  They can give you advice based on their experiences, and most are more than willing to cheer you on as you reach each milestone along the way.

Some of them continue vaping with zero nicotine just for the joy of doing it, and they share their success stories publicly to encourage people like you. We’re willing to make a bet that you haven’t made any friends while you were out buying nicotine gum, right? The vaping community is an ever-present force that is there for you!

Does Vaping Really Help Quit Smoking?

If you have already made the switch from cigarettes to vaping, then you are already enjoying the benefits. On the other hand, if you’re reading this and you haven’t made the switch, keep in mind that vaping not only significantly reduces your lung exposure to dangerous carcinogens, but also makes people want to hang around you more, since you no longer smell like an ashtray! Of course, the list of potential benefits goes on ad infinitum. Vaping vs smoking is a great way to:

  • Eliminate that nasty smoke smell in your hair, your clothes, your car and your house.
  • Avoid being ostracized and relegated to that parking lot ‘smoking area’! Now you can hang out with the rest of your friends without offending anyone standing nearby.
  • Do away with those cigarette burns on your clothes, your car seats, and so forth.
  • Stop rushing through important events in order to escape to a ‘smoke-friendly’ zone. You can vape almost anywhere!

So if you are ready to quit smoking; vaping sounds like a great fit for you, give it a try!

I have been a heavy smoker for more than half my life. I am generally one of those people that just like to smoke. I have been smoking a pack a day for longer than I can remember. Three weeks ago I got my first vape. Right after that I didn’t smoke a cigarette for 2 weeks straight. I didn’t have any cravings or mood swings. I have saved a lot of money since then and honestly I don’t think I’ll ever smoke again. Vaping gives me what I want and I know what’s in it. After about 5-7 days the flavors really opened up and it’s even better than I thought it was.

I was smoking about a pack and a half a day and smoked for 47 years. I quit 4 weeks ago now by using a vape with 12mgs of nicotine. It’s been awesome. I will never smoke again and I don”t miss it. I’d have bet against myself because I liked smoking – but wow, this vaping is a great tool. I’m so glad I’ve done this.

I analyzed why I smoke. I like making smoke when I exhale and the nursing aspect, never got enough nipple when I was a baby I guess. lol. I started vaping about 2 years ago and it gave me exactly what I craved doing but without the stink and negative health effects. I no longer hack for 10-15 minutes every morning!!! When I forget my vape at home I do not rush to the nearest store to buy another one like a pack of cigarettes. I go without until I get back home. I am always losing my vape and it does not bother me. I could never say that about cigarettes. I go hours without vaping until I remember that I haven’t used it for awhile. I can not count the times I have gotten up in the morning looking for my vape before I sit on the commode and realize I left it in the car last night. That freedom from being a slave to cigarettes is huge for me. I am so proud of myself and I am stronger than I believed I was. Cigarette smoking is really demoralizing when you have those moments of clarity and truth, when other people look at you with disgust.
I started with the strongest nicotine level but now on the weakest level and actually when I finish off my bottle of juice I am laying it down for good. It seems to me it should be the next step in the process of cessation and I am going to do it just to prove it can be done. And by the way, I used to spend $4.50 a day on cigarettes but I have only spent $12.00 a month on E-Juice for the past 2 years and about $5.00 each 4-6 weeks on coils. So about $18.00 a month versus $135.00 a month on Cancerous cigarettes.

I just got a vape today – smoked all day long and tomorrow morning it starts. I got one with 0.3 nicotine and the guy who helped me get the right setup and flavor was extremely helpful.

Started smoking in August of this year a pack a day after some stressful things happened – smoking made it worse! I was moody – depressed and my skin looks messed up at times in the face. Going to be an interesting transformation in all the those things reversed.

I started vaping Sept. 4, 2017. I smoked a pack a day for 43 years. I started out on 12 mg. Nicotine. I did that for 3 weeks. I then went to 6 mg. for another 3-4 weeks. Then I dropped down to 3 mg. on Oct. 28. I haven’t smoked any cigarettes! I just put some 12 mg. In my vape cause I wanted a different flavor, but will probably dump it as I am getting a headache from it. Sorry this is so long- I hope it helps! Good Luck to you!

I have been smoking cigarettes for 9 years.. I am one of those people who loves to smoke and I love that burn in the back of my throat. This year, I became horribly fed up with burn holes, the smell, cost, shamefulness, and the urge to be in smoke zones constantly. I bought a 130 dollar professional vape set yesterday and I believe I will never smoke a cigarette again. I feel officially free!!!!!

Totally agree with you! This article made me to consider quitting cigarettes. I couldn’t count how many “last” cigarettes I smoked. It’s been 4 months without regular cigarettes! I bought Vapour 2 – friend of mine gave me good review. I’m so happy I finally did it!
