Vaping Tips & Tricks: Why Is My Vape Not Working? Vape Troubleshooting Tips

Anyone who vapes knows that there is nothing worse than looking forward to a good vape session and then having it derailed by your vape pen not working. Knowing how to fix a vape’s issues can get you back on the right track, and toward the high-quality experience, you deserve.

At VaporFI, we have a troubleshooting cheat sheet you can use as a quick reference if your vape pen not working. , A slight tweak will usually set you straight, but sometimes it’ll take a little more effort to fix your vape. In both cases, here is a look at the most common vape pen issues and what you can do to fix them!

Leakage

Many problems cause leaks, from devices not being screwed on properly to your tank being overfilled. Check these two things first. Another common vape pen culprit is having a cracked tank, which means it’s time for a new one. In that case, we’ve got plenty of vaping tanks to choose from!

Here’s how to determine where the leak is coming from and what you can do to fix it. Just ask yourself the following three questions:

  • Is everything assembled correctly? If you didn’t screw everything together right the first time, you would find yourself with e-juice everywhere. The good news is, this is about as easy of a fix as you can hope for – take the time to assemble the device correctly, and you should be good to go.
  • Does the tank have any cracks? Most tanks nowadays use Pyrex or glass as the juice reservoir, with each offering certain benefits and drawbacks. The one downside to a glass reservoir is that it is more susceptible to cracking. Scrutinize the tube, looking especially closely at the end caps to see if there are any hairline fractures. If you spot even the tiniest crack, you will need to replace the tube to stop the leaking.
  • Are the seals and o-rings placed correctly and in good condition? One of the top causes of leaking e-juice is a seal that is either cracked, missing, or just misaligned. Your device has several different seals, so examine them to see if you notice any crimping, damage, or looseness. Replacing these is an inexpensive fix and can solve your leak problem altogether.

Not Enough Throat Hit

PG is the element of the e-liquid that gives a great hit, and if you’re not satisfied, you may need more PG in your juice. Check the PG/ VG ratio. The higher the PG level in a particular vape juice, the more intense throat hit you can expect. Juices with higher nicotine content can also provide a sensation. Or, you could always switch up your juice flavor and grab something with citrus or menthol notes, increasing the throaty effect.

If you’re sure it’s not the liquid, it may be time to upgrade to a more advanced device that allows you to better customize your experience. VaporFi offers a wide range of devices that enable users to perfectly calibrate every aspect of their vape. For more throat hits, you will need something to increase the power, decrease the airflow, or increase the temperature. Experimenting with these adjustments will help you achieve the perfect amount of throat hit. Many top-notch brands provide these features, including SMOK, Freemax, Vaporesso, Voopoo, Innokin, and Uwell.

Not Enough Vapor

You may need an e-liquid with a higher concentration of VG. VG produces clouds, so increasing it will result in better vapor production.

There are also a few technical problems that could be causing low cloud production. The first and most apparent is a low or dead battery. Most devices have a vaping battery indicator light to tell you when it’s time to recharge your vape.If you feel like the vapor production has suddenly dropped, try recharging your device and see if that helps.

If that doesn’t work, check to ensure your atomizer coil isn’t dry and that the atomizer itself isn’t flooded. Finally, make sure that the electrical connection between the atomizer and battery life appears to be functioning correctly, cleaning off any dust or grime that may have built up.

Not Enough Flavor

100,000 different e-liquid flavor combinations are more than enough to satisfy the picky tastes of the most demanding vapers, so start exploring your options! However, if you think the lack of flavor is an actual issue with your device, blow on your cartomizer. This can work to get the liquid flowing. If that doesn’t work, consider that you may have Vaper’s Tongue. Tip: Drink LOTS of water.

Burnt Taste

This issue occurs commonly when you vape right after filling the tank. Let the wick soak a bit, then see how it performs. This should make the problem much better.

You’re Ending Up with E-Liquid in Your Mouth

This is a widespread problem for newer vapers or those who have just switched to a different device. If you are taking in too strong of a draw, you might find yourself with a mouthful of vape juice. The simple fix is to slow your pace; keep it steady and not overly aggressive.

The battery Keeps Cutting Off/Not Working.

First, make sure you don’t need to charge your vape. Make sure you’re using the correct charger; charger mixups are super common in today’s world of technology. Check to see if all connections are, in fact, connected. Is your battery/charging port clean? Dried-up liquid crud can get in the way, and cause ill-functioning, so be sure to keep things tidy. None of these solutions work? It may be time for a new battery.

Hearing Things

If your device is making gurgling sounds, you’ve probably overfilled your tank & gotten too much liquid in the atomizer. This problem can be easily fixed by removing some excess juice and cleaning out the tank.

Other Issues That Cause a Vape to Stop Working

In general, a long list of problems can be caused by poor device maintenance. Just like any other machinery, your vape device needs to be correctly taken care of to function well. If you have a mystery issue on your hands, you might be surprised to find that it could be solved by just giving everything a good old-fashioned cleaning. Take the device apart and use a cotton swab or soft cloth to gently and carefully clean every single square inch. It might sound like a tedious task, but it can fix many problems and save you money in the long term.
