About 95% of a vape juice’s makeup is composed of Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerine (VG).
Both these substances are non-toxic and are often used in food, cosmetic, and medicine products. Vape juices vary in their ratio of PG to VG and this affects the vaping experience.
Propylene Glycol is a thin odorless, colorless liquid. PG provides the “throat hit” which is often likened to the effect of smoking.
Vegetable Glycerine is a derivative of vegetable oil and is a thicker substance. It’s presence in vape juice produces denser, more voluminous clouds associated with cloud-chasing and professional vaping.
The answer to this question is highly subjective, since every vaper has their own unique preferences. However, there are three main categories of PG/VG ratio vape juice to explore.
Classic Vape Juice: This category refers to e-liquids that have a higher ratio of PG than VG (70% PG or higher). Vaping this juice has a strong throat hit and thus provides a sensation similar to smoking. This juice is thinner and ideal to use with low-wattage vape devices.
